Rabies continues to be a challenge throughout Southern Africa. The country continues to experience human cases in provinces such as Kwa-Zulu Natal, Eastern Cape and Limpopo. These and neighbouring countries are popular holiday destinations for Gauteng residents.
The directorate would like to make use of this opportunity to warn the public to prevent themselves from becoming victims of rabid dog bites. Another risk factor is that some holiday makers normally take their pets along to these places, which in effect places them at risk. read more... |
