NOTICE TO STAKEHOLDERS: Withdrawal of the EIA Administrative Guideline Relating to Land Use Applications within the Local Authority System, 1 April 1998
The MEC, Mr Khabisi Mosunkutu, has formally withdrawn the Department's EIA Administrative Guideline Relating to Land Use Applications within the Local Authority System, 1 April 1998. The withdrawal notice was published in The Star newspaper of 7 August 2008. The effect of this is that applications for environmental authorisation must be submitted to the Department in respect of any activity listed in terms of the National Environmental Management Act, 1998 (Act 107 of 1998) and its Listing Notices (Government Notices R386 & R387) irrespective of whether such proposed activities have been approved by other government bodies in terms of planning or other related legislation prior to 1 April 1998. Gauteng Campaign to keep Gauteng clean takes another turn
